Pins and needles

What are pins and needles and why do we get them? Stupid question I know but I have always wondered.

It's caused by a full blood supply being restored to an extremity after the flow was partially or fully restricted. The low blood flow meant reduced nerve activity; now the full flow makes the sensory nerves fire.
