Sorry if shouldnt be here.
A friend has a cruise booked leaving Liverpool Airport on Tuesday.
She's single, has paid £1100 for it (single supplement, outside cabin upgrade, and the first trip booked and paid for).
She cant find her Passport anywhere! She's had the house ripped apart 4 times and it's nowhere to be found.
She's been to the Passport office in Liverpool and has been told it'll take a week to issue a new one (the lost passport is 3 yrs into the 10 yr timescale)
I know it's a shot in the dark and unlikely but can anyone suggest a way getting them to issue one now? Contacts etc?
She's had a rough time lately and this Holiday will give her the pick me up she needs.
Any help really is appreciated.
Did they say why it was a week?

You can only get a fast-track passport under certain circumstances and replacing a lost passport is not one of them.
There is a help and advice line, the number is 0870 521 0410

Yes, if she was abroad they could do it but not here.
A week is the minimum they say.
The phone number at ukpi is 0871 310 8350. She rang it on thursday evening and it gave another number, it was an 0906 sex line number!!! Honestly.
Thanks for the help, it looks like she's lost the holiday.

Used this service a while ago, in London when I realised that 1 passport only had 3 months left and the other only had 2 blank pages PANIC  I was due to travel to Sydney then onto Dhaka in 5 days. Cost a bit but well worth it in the worst case scenario

So, If anybody wants a good cruise, cheap, to the med inc upgraded cabin and first trip paid for...............................
If she could get £2-300 back it'd soften the blow.
Feel free to pm me and i'll pm her number back to you.

Surely worth another look round the house ? I presume she's looked in zipped pockets in handbags etc ?

She/we have looked everywhere, even pots pans fridge, whole house top to bottom it's a mystery.
The last time she used it was June, she must have lost it at the airport when she returned even though she's sure she didnt.
Ah well, onwards and upwards, it's a holiday no-ones been hurt or worse, she'll have more.

A little late in the thread, like, but that's great news! Have been following this one closely; just having never been abroad I had nothing constructive to add LOL
Wishing her a great holiday :D

Similar sort of thing happened to me. I needed my driving licence to hire a van, but couldn't find it, so I had to apply for a new photocard one. The new licence turned up, and as I was putting it away somewhere safe, I found the old one. :bang:

Happened to me a few years ago! Was going to America in 3 weeks time and whilst getting all my docs in place, couldn't find my passport.
Had to go to London and queue for hours and get a replacement.
Came back from holiday and found it in the CD rack

He posted that she'd got a replacement passport 2 days ago -- that makes it a Monday by my sophisticated calculations. He said the cruise leaves Tuesday so I don't think she has to do any catching up, just turn up as normal?

Thats right.
She was only 3 years into the 10 year life of the passport so that helped also.
They'll do replacements for passports that run out while you out of the country but not lost or stolen, these do take a week to renew because of the checks they have to make presumably.
Anyway she's on board and in the sun so all's well.

Oh whoops sorry - been away for a week, that'll teach me to skim read threads when I'm catching up !!!
Good result!! Much better than having to flog the ticket to someone else at a loss :D

I shared the panic yesterday - couldn't find my passport, and I need to travel outside Germany several times in the next months. Spent 4 hours looking everywhere, and even took some of the hidey holes mentioned in this thread into account!
I was just looking into the cost of travelling from Munich to the British Consulate in Düsseldorf (where all UK passports are issued in Germany) for a quick replacement, when it occured to me to check with the hospital I stayed in 3 weekds ago after having my tonsils out. To my great releif they had it! (though why they hadn't managed to look my number up in the phone book to call me god only knows!).
(So why did I take a passport to hospital in the first place? We'll you're meant to have I.D. on you al the time here - I don't normally bother, other than a driving license, but thought it might be useful to have it with me there).
So another panic over and done with!

Can find a edit button so have to add a reply...
Anyway, make that several times in the next "month" not "months" (and for vaguely important things like stag do, wedding, honey moon....).
(the lengths some people will go to to get out of commitments eh?!)
