The information commissioner, Richard Thomas, has said the UK is adopting uncomfortably high levels of surveillance.

A Surveillance Society, released today. It looks at surveillance in 2006 and projects forward 10 years to 2016

Thomas said: "Two years ago I warned that we were in danger of sleepwalking into a surveillance society. Today I fear that we are in fact waking up to a surveillance society that is already all around us.

This is on the same day that concerns are increasing over the National DNA database with 1 in 4 of adult males on the database and 24,000 under 18s.

You can have your say on the DNA database here: http://www.nuffieldbioethics.org/go/ourwork/bioinformationuse/page_848.html

Heard about this on TalkSport this morning. One CCTV camera for every 12 adults in the UK!

When can we see Big Brother on CCTV himself? Put a webcam on the CCTV operators and their screens.
