QQ for those who know...

On 31st March last year we bought a Panasonic DVD recorder with Freeview from Argos. Cost £169.99.
Last week it broke, so Argos sent it away for repair.
Just had a call from the repairers to say that it's beyond economical repair and I need to go back to Argos to discuss a replacementQuestion is, what can I reasonably expect Argos to offer, bearing in mind :

Argos have an equivalent spec Panasonic model, but it's more expensive - £229.99
Argos also have an alternative Panasonic model for the same price as I originally paid, but it doesn't have Freeview and is therefore not suitable
Argos have lesser brands (Wharfedale, Bush, Philips, etc) which have similar specs to mine for the same cost, but as I have an all-Panasonic setup, I don't want an alternative brand. Can I insist on having the same spec (but now more expensive) model as a replacement? Will I have to pay the difference?

Can they insist I have the lesser spec (but same price) model?

Can they insist I have an alternative model?

If I go down refund route, can they insist it will be refunded in Argos vouchers?

Can they make a partial refund on the basis I've had 10 months use?

thanks...

In my experience Argos are likely to refund the original amount you paid, in the same manner you paid (IE card/cash).

Although it's been a while since i've had to return anything more than a few months old to them.

Well all Argos say on the matter is this:

If there's a fault with the product...
We've made it easier!

If you bring it back to us within 30 days with your proof of purchase*, we'll give you a replacement or a refund.
If you've had the product for up to 1 year, we'll repair the product or, if that's not possible, give you a replacement or, if that's not possible, a refund.
This does not affect your statutory rights.

Now if your being pedantic it does not say a replacement up-to the same price, but then it does not say of the same make either, although brand loyalty may be very important to some customers.

Worked out well for me actually... we've got a HDD recorder already and I needed a new lawnmower, so I used the vouchers for that.
