Money found

Hello all,

Just before Christmas I found some money in a shopping centre - a total of £40 (20 + 10 + 10, just floating around).
After I picked up the money and had a look around for more, someone approached me and asked if I had lost money as they had seen a group of kids picking up more money.

I approached two uniformed officers in the shopping centre and handed the money to them, they took my name, address and telephone number.

I haven't heard anything since. What happens to money if it is not claimed, and what time period expired before it is unclaimed?

firstly, it was very honest of you. well done

Secondly, when i handed a handbag in a couple of years ago, the desk staff IIRC, asked that if it wasn't collected or the owner found within 30 days, would i like to claim it.

so you may be unlucky and it's been claimed

I would contact the station to make sure it was logged in and when that 30 days is up.. you can claim it.
