mate of mine's boyfriend has been caught driving with no license, tax, insurance or MOT. He's 23 and has got his test in January. What do you think is likely to happen.

Oh dear....and he was driving because......?

With no licence
No tax
No insurance
No MOT

He's likely looking at an incredibly hefty fine and MAYBE a short prison sentance I would imagine....

If nothing else a hefty fine and banned from driving....although as he doesn't have a licence and still drove, I don't think that'll be much punishment....

Was it his car? Was he speeding?

no it was his brothers car, and he reckons he was not speeding, they just pulled him for a check. I advised him to seek legal advice asap !! Doesn't sound to good to me !!

I doubt he'll get a prison sentence.... more likely a fine (depending on his income) and points or a ban

Certainly seeking legal advice would be his best course of action in the first instance.

Does a defendant's income have much impact on a fine/punishment? Bloody typical if it does - so if you are low-income you shouldn't be expected to take you punishment like everyone else?! :bang:

Your friend needs to be careful here. If the vehicle belongs to his brother, then his brother could also be looking at prosecution for permitting offences.

Suggest legal advice in this case.
