After seeing the programme tonight, respect to the traffic officers, of this country, BUT come on boys you surely do not go down a motorway at 130 mph with just your headlights flashing, surely at that speed blues and two's should have been used?? But respect to the officer who controlled a blow out at over a 100mph, most of us would have died, the training you guys must do, must be second to none, but to collied with an artic, is a bit crazy, and your training surely would have told you your sirens and blue lights should have been on.
Cheers
Colin :D

Colin,
I have just finished my first 3 weeks of my driving course,
To reach Traffic standard I have another 6 weeks at least of driver training. Dispite this you can never account for other drivers but only be aware of them and exxpect the unexpected. Maybe he should of had his blues on, you never know the full situation, we were not there. All I can say is that he did an amazing job of controlling the car at 100mph! and the lorry should have never been in the 3rd lane.

I did see that - it was a quite impressive accident! Seriously though, when they replayed it, the lorry driver's mirrors weren't in the camera's view (and therefore the police car wasn't visible to the lorry driver) until the lorry river was halfway into the third lane and committed. He also indicated for flippin' ages before making the lane switch! Why didn't the copper look at the bend in the road and think - "oops!!! Bad move"?

And yes, I do know that the lorry driver shouldn't have been going into the third lane . . . but 130 mph up to a roundabout by the copper???!!!

No round abouts on motorways????????????
It was the M127 I believe.
I am not saying the driver was in the right or wrong.
All I sugest is that the driver of the Volvo and the lorry messed up. Either way no one was hurt. The lorry shouldn't of been there (law) The Police car may have needed blues and twos on????
Different situations and being there at the time accounts for a lot

He was pursuing a car and didn't want to make his presence too obvious, he was aware that the third lane ended about 1/2 a mile further on, there was no other traffic and lorrys should never be in lane 3. He didn't do anything wrong at all, what did the lorry driver want to be in lane 3 for in the first place?!!?

I loved that program though, so want to do that in the future (so i'm sad, shoot me!) :D

I think they were coming to the end of the M-way. Either that or somebody had nicked a blinking great roundabout sign, painted it blue and stuck it on the side the motorway for a laugh!!

Cheers for the replys guys, I'm just a frustrated police officer who never became one, all I ever wanted to be was be a traffic officer, but I was ill and failed the medical, I started having epilepsy right out of the blue, and to this day I still am angry about it, because it stopped me doing what I wanted to do.
Cheers

The motor cyclist got off lightly, and I think he realised it too.(Especially when he admitted to the camera after that he'd actually clocked 170mph!)
Thought the BiB were very good about it though.
Mind you, I wouldn't like to have a run in with the one who sits overlooking the Stocksbridge bypass. :|

:bang: The police officer who hit the lorry as he slid over to the third lane did well to keep his cool. I would have lost it big time if it happened to me?

As for the lorry driver, should have had his licence taken away, saying he didn't know he wasn't allowed to go in the third lane, what a knob :x You could see the third lane was about to end, but he went into it just to come back into the second lane :?

Will things get better on our roads :| I don't think so.
