driving any other car 3rd party

I have a TPFT policy with norwich union.
I have been told I can drive any other car under my insurance 3rd party..even if that other car has NO other insurance cover.

I'd always thought the other car had to have at least 3rd party insurnace cover for me to be covered under my insurance.


Does this sound ok or a bit dodgy?


I'm 20yrs old if it makes any difference.

Nope your policy should be ok.

It's designed to provide you with cover to drive another car with the owners permission as a "get you out of trouble" measure but will only normally cover you if you are;
1) Not the owner of the other car or buying it under a HP or loan scheme
2) NOT covered to drive the car under any other insurance.
3) using the vehicle for purposes covered under your policy ie SDP use only if you only have SDP cover on your policy

The owneer of the other car should have ithe car insured if the car is on a public road in case the vehicle causes property damage or injury while it is on the road but this should not affect your policy.

What Kris says. Would check that it does apply on your policy though as some companies limit it to different ages, ie over 21`s
