thay say thay have proff of me going through the red light at 23mph(in a 40 mph!) 14:8 seconds (YES 14:8 seconds) arfter the red light!!!!!!

(please go to my 1st post to find out backround)

tell me if im wrong but the only thing going through reds arfter that time would have blue"s & Twos flashing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So it looks like i"ll be going to court to wast their time!!! cos the C.D.O.U want my details sent to them. & i"m not going to be given points for not doing anything wrong?

Find out the sequencing of the lights on that day at that time.

It may be the case that 14.8 seconds after lights go red, they may have gone green again!

You were turning right and therefore stationary? so 23mph can't be true? or have i missed something?

Have you got the photo evidence? rather important that you do to prepare the case. :)

The green filter would possibly explain things. Remember - when some light (straight on) turn red - its only at this point when the filter light comes on.

I'd ask for a copy of the photograph. You need to see this before you go any further.

Interesting.

Could you down and video the light sequence?

hi-all :D
you are right Burratha, the green fillter light is a traffic light on its own witch works only when the lights for strait-on or left are red.
can someone shed some light on how thay can say what speed i was doing if the camera is for jumping red light & not for speeding(different cameras! & NO speed lines)?????? i"m a bit confused.

many thanks for any input

Just so you know...... the government are thinking of altering the red light cameras to double-up as speed cameras. - which makes me think they are more or less the same technology. Apparently - this "change" will cost next-to-nothing as the kit is already in there.

Interesting one, eh?

Must be a variant on the TruVelo system as opposed to Gatso's......no room for Radar in those little boxes, but already connected to wires in the road. Hmm.....could just be a software change! :(

I'm sorry - but at the end of the day, anyone who accelerates through a junction to beat a red light is asking for what's coming to them.

speeding - yes, that's a contentious issue, but speeding through red lights - you'll get none of my sympathy there.

Both Gatso and Piezo (which Truvelo uses) exist:

???? You mean you never ever ever gambled the amber????

EVER?

Have you driven in London lately? A guy got out of his car and started thumping my window cos "you could've f__ckin gone then you stupid w____"

-sigh- I have days when I think an MP5-A3 is the only way to get through the day.

I used to go through Amber, I mostly now slow and stop if safe to do. If it turns Amber when I am on the light then I carry on. If it turns Amber and I have time to slow then I normally stop.

I know where you are comming from Steve. But then it's similar to trying to drive at 30 in a 30. Always some git driving on your bumper :| :bang:

Have a tendency to just nudge the throttle if it goes Amber when I am already comitted. So I'll be getting more points then.

It may be the case that 14.8 seconds after lights go red, they may have gone green again!

Unfortunately this may not help. A lot of junctions are computer controlled and they can change the phasing of the lights to allow for traffic flows. The lights can change in absolutely any sequence if the computer thinks the traffic is backing up. The police can sometimes obtain a computer printout of the log kept by the computer but I have no idea how long the data is kept and it may well have been erased by now.

The system has a looped induction wire in front of the stop line as well as after it. They wire detect the vehicle and as they are spaced at set distance they calculate the speed of the vehicle. This is used when a vehicle is approaching the ATS so fast that there is no way they can stop, the camera can be activated by the first loop. All they would need to do for speed enforcement would be to paint the markings on the road to reinforce the system.

Personally I don't think that's a bad thing. If you approach a green traffic light the bugger always changes. If you're not speeding you should stop easily.

As stated previously, request a copy of the photographic evidence as it will help you build a defence.

:? This has got me thinking. I drive an articulated vehicle sometimes with extended trailers. You was flashed at 23 mph in a 40, how do I go on then travelling in traffic, (emergency stops not advised) get to the light it changes. Now I'm the length of 5/6 cars so I get flashed. How or where do I stand.

In the dim and distant recesses of my memory I think, it is an offence when a vehicle or any part of a vehicle crosses the stop line in contavention of the red signal. So I think technically an offence may be commited but if no danger was caused I seriously doubt a police officer would do anything about it. I don't know what happens in these circumstances with cameras, I suppose the 2 pictures would both show the cab had cossed the line before the signal.
